Welcome to Grow Through Play
Grow Through Play is a mobile occupational therapy service based in Tamworth, the beautiful country music capital of Australia. We are passionate about supporting children and their families using a neuro-affirming, play-based and family-centred approach. Our philosophy is simple: children learn best when they’re having fun. That’s why we tailor every session to each child’s unique interests and developmental stage.
We work with children and young people aged 0-18 who have developmental differences and/or disabilities, including but not limited to:
• Developmental delays
• Sensory processing differences
• Autism spectrum disorder
• ADHD
• Down syndrome
What is Occupational Therapy?
Our goal as OT’s is to empower children and their families to thrive together, fostering growth through fun and meaningful experiences.
Occupational therapy is an allied health profession focused on promoting health and wellbeing by supporting participation in meaningful daily activities (or “occupations”).
For children, these occupations often include play, learning at school, and self-care tasks. To engage in these activities successfully, children need various skills such as emotional regulation, communication, executive functioning, and motor skills.
At Grow Through Play, we support children by:
Helping them develop individual skills in different environments (e.g., at home, school, or community spaces)
Collaborating with their networks, including caregivers, educators, and support workers, to create supportive environments and achieve participation goals
Meet Madi
Madi is a compassionate and dedicated paediatric occupational therapist with a passion for supporting children and their families. After completing her studies at the University of Newcastle, Madi gained valuable experience working as an OT in Newcastle and the Kimberley region of Western Australia before returning to her hometown of Tamworth, NSW, where she was born and raised.
Having worked in both regional and remote areas, Madi has witnessed the challenges children and families face in accessing essential services. She understands the profound impact this can have not only on the child but also on their family unit and the broader community. This experience drives her commitment to providing much-needed support to families and being an active part of each child’s unique journey.
